In an email sent to Butler University students on April 16, the university announced that food provider Aramark will better prepare the food it sends to the university and will add more options to the menu.

After meeting with Butler administrators, Aramark has agreed to rewash all pre-washed produce being sent to the university in order to ensure better quality food.

Also, the following changes will be happening to the dining hall menu immediately based off student feedback:

  • Grilled chicken will be added to the gluten-free station
  • Additional vegan options will be added to the Hearty Station
  • Vegan desserts will be available during lunch times
  • Additional fresh fruit and two more salad dressing options will be available at the salad bar
  • More vegan options will be added to the breakfast menu

The email, sent from Frank Ross, Butler vice president of student affairs, said a recent Collegian article highlighting mishaps students have experienced in the dining hall sparked administrators having the conversation.

“Please know the situation discussed there does not represent the type of experience we want for our students,” the statement said. “We take this matter very seriously, and the university took immediate action.”

These changes will take place immediately in order to help prepare for the fall 2018 semester, according to the email.
