The Butler University women’s golf team completed the fall portion of their season with a second place finish at the Evansville Invitational in Evansville, Indiana, on Oct. 24-25.
The women were led by junior Rachel Gathof who turned in round of 73 and 74 to finish solo second. Freshman Betsy Warner also placed in the top ten with a two-round total of 157, good enough for a tie for eighth.
Juniors Kelsey McDougall and Abigail Gleixner finished in a tie for 13th with totals of 158. Sophomore Lauren Tibbets rounded out the Butler lineup with a two-round total of 167.
Junior Catie Liggett participated in the event as an individual. She finished in a tie for 38th with scores of 85 and 83.
The Butler team total of 620 was bested by the University of Evansville’s 617, who took home the team title. The Bulldogs started the final round 5 strokes behind Evansville, but were only able to shed two strokes off that lead throughout the final round.
Evansville’s Kayla Katterhenry won the individual title by eight strokes over Gathof with scores of 70 and 69.
The women’s golf team finished the fall portion of their schedule with one win and four top five’s under their belt.
The team kicks off their spring portion of their schedule on March 6 at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, FLA.
