On Oct. 4, Butler’s Center for Global Education will host its first annual study abroad fair. The event will take place in the Fairview Community Room from 4 to 7 p.m.

The fair features three study abroad options available to students — exchange programs, faculty programs and third-party providers.

“The main reason why we are having the fair is to advertise study abroad programs,” said

Dena Roberts, CGE associate director for faculty-led programs and co-coordinator of the fair. “We have a lot of different offerings, and we want to make that more accessible to students.”

Roberts said there are numerous faculty-led programs. By holding this fair, the CGE is able to launch these programs in one event.

In the exchange program, students attend another institution abroad while an international student takes their place at Butler. For the faculty-led program, students go abroad with a Butler faculty member and fellow Butler students. Third-party programs are outside organizations that provide study abroad opportunities for all Americans, including Butler students.

“Each program meets the needs of a different type of student,” said Calie Florek, a CGE study abroad advisor and co-coordinator of the fair.

The event will be structured for students to come and go as they please. Students can walk by to ask questions, pick up flyers and sign up for more information.

“I’m excited for the fair, because it helps me explore all of my options for my lifestyle,” Karlie Hutchins, a first year biochemistry major, said.

At the fair, students will also have the opportunity to enter the CGE’s raffle, which includes  a $250 voucher from Start The Adventure Travel to help cover the cost of international airfare.
