Sam Varie, SGA student body president, stepped down from his position on Jan. 15 to join Pete for America’s campaign. Malin Peterson, SGA executive vice president, will fill his vacancy.
Sam Varie has been re-elected as President of SGA, and Malin Peterson will serve alongside him as executive vice president.
SGA’s recently-amended constitution includes changes to the election process and organizational structure.
On Monday, the Butler community gathered at the Star Fountain to honor victims of recent hate crimes across the United States.
Last year, Varie campaigned under three initiatives: administrative accountability, SGA accessibility and inclusivity. The presidency is a position the junior strategic communication major said he has wanted since his first-year convocation.
Butler students received election results on Mar 1. All election winners will begin their official terms at the start of the 2018-2019 school year, Aug. 22.
