As the sorority celebrates 100 years, Butler plans to honor founders for exemplifying its values.
Multimedia reporter Gillian Battung asked Butler seniors their thoughts on how graduation ceremonies will be looking this May.
Butler University sent out an email on October 7 detailing a delay in commencement ceremonies for May, August, and December 2020 graduates. This delay means that this group of graduates is now combined with those students who are set to graduate in the Spring. This new, much larger commencement ceremony, is planned to take place on May 8 and 9.
Martha Hoover, the founder and owner of Patachou, Inc., will be the keynote speaker at the winter commencement ceremony and will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
It may still be the middle of first semester, but students and the administration are already looking ahead to commencement. Determining a commencement speaker is not a simple process—cost, connections and nominations all come into play.
