Slightly before 8 a.m. on Sept. 21, IMPD officers were alerted to a report of a person shot near Crown Hill Cemetery. North District officers arrived at 618 West 39th Street — three blocks south of the South Campus Apartments — and discovered the 17-year-old male victim inside a residence.
The victim was in critical condition when Indiana Emergency Medical Services transported him to Methodist Hospital, and he died shortly after arriving.
Homicide detectives and Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency are investigating and collecting forensic evidence, while the Marion County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the manner and cause of death. The victim was identified as Marcus Germany Jr.
At the scene, a firearm was secured and removed, and one person was initially detained before being released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. There are no current public suspects.
