Butler, Frank Ross decline comment on recent staff departures

Frank Ross, vice president of student affairs, and Butler University’s marketing and communications department both declined to comment Friday on the recent departures of Anne Flaherty, Doug Howell and Karla Cunningham.

Both declined to comment via email citing the fact that it was a personnel issue.

It is still unclear who will fill the void left by these three. Flaherty was the dean of student life, while Cunningham and Howell were director and associate director of residence life, respectively.

The Office of Residence Life declined to answer who is the new point of contact for students and referred the Collegian to Ross’ office.

The Collegian reported on Thursday that these three were no longer employed with the university according to an email sent to Resident Assistants and confirmed by other RAs.

Some students took to Twitter Friday to express their concern about what happened and who to reach out to.

When attempting to email the three mentioned above, an automatic reply is sent informing the sender that each person no longer works with the university, but no more details are given.

Rachel Anderle, Zach Horrall and Marisa Miller contributed to this story. We will continue to follow up as we gather more information.
