Butler University President James Danko will remain in office through 2020. His five-year contract extension was announced Friday morning at the Academic Year Welcome. Board of Trustees Chair Keith Burks announced the board’s unanimous decision to faculty and staff. Danko took office in 2011 and had one year remaining on his initial contract.
Below is a timeline of how the events unfolded this morning.
After Danko spoke in Clowes Memorial Hall, faculty and staff gathered on the lawn for a picnic. Danko spoke with The Collegian regarding the announcement.
The president’s wife, Bethanie Danko, said she is pleased with the extension.
Bethanie Danko
We are very excited, we love Butler. We feel completely at home here.”
More information regarding the content of Danko’s speech will be included in Wednesday’s print edition of The Butler Collegian. This will include information on plans for the budget, construction updates and details about the incoming class of 2019.
