The Butler University women’s lacrosse team fell 21-12 to Radford University on March 10.

Butler dropped to 0-6 on the young season. The Bulldogs’ 12 goals were a season-high.

Sophomore midfielder Christina Soderquist scored two of those goals, the second and third of her Butler career.

“It always feels good to put goals on the board and contribute,” Soderquist said. “Those goals weren’t just me, though. I had teammates doing off-ball work, and both goals were a team effort.”

Junior defender Carly Hewitt said the Bulldogs did well passing the ball and making the most of their opportunities.

“The team is learning that we really need to step it up,” Hewitt said. “There are no excuses at this level and we need to give it our all each and every game.”

Butler recorded 12 saves and 17 draw controls against the Highlanders.

Freshman Elizabeth Davide scored a goal for the fourth straight match.

“We’re getting closer and starting to get to know everyone’s strengths and weaknesses,” Davide said.

The Bulldogs will face Liberty University on Tuesday, March 13. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
