Butler women’s soccer (0-1-1) suffered their first loss of the season on Aug. 20 after falling to Ohio University (2-0-0) 1-0.

The difference in the one-goal game came early. Ohio’s Hannah Jaggers netted the only goal of the match in just the fourth minute, a header into the top left corner of the box. Teammate Sydney Leckie assisted her with a cross that led to the early goal.

Both teams had ample scoring opportunities throughout. The Bulldogs outshot the Bobcats 19-11 in the match. However, Ohio got seven shots on goal, one more than Butler’s six.

Junior Halle Stelbasky led the Bulldogs on the attack and was credited with six shots. Fellow junior Paige Monaghan and sophomore Amanda Kowalski added four shots, while senior Brenna Pawelkowski and freshman Payton Black both added a pair.

Goalie Hannah Luedtke took the loss in her first game this year. She made seven saves in the match.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Aug. 24 at Michigan State University at 5 p.m. to finish off a three-game road trip.
