The Butler women’s soccer team moved to 6-2-0 on the season as they fell 2-0 to Baylor on Sept. 13. In the match, the Bulldogs were held scoreless for the first time since a 1-0 loss to Kansas on Sept. 2.

The Bears threw the opening punch as Giuliana Cunningham scored her third goal of the season in the 37th minute. After shutting out Evansville and Northern Kentucky in their last matchups, it was the first goal surrendered by the Bulldogs defense in over 200 minutes of play.

The Bears struck again just four minutes into the second half as Raegan Padgett cleared out of a scrum for a chip shot over Butler sophomore goalkeeper Leonie Doege in the 49th minute. The Bears are the first opponent with a multi-goal performance when facing the Bulldogs in 2018.

After Baylor led the shot count 6-5 in the first half, Butler evened the match total in the second half by outshooting the Bears 6-5. Senior forward Paige Monaghan led the Bulldogs with three shots in the match.

The Bulldogs will continue the 2018 campaign on Sept. 16 with a matchup against TCU.
