Jamie Brennan, Butler’s Title IX Coordinator for the past year, is no longer with the university according to an email sent to students on Thursday by Frank Ross, vice president for student affairs.

The email gives no reason for Brennan’s departure, and her contact information is no longer on the university’s website. She started at Butler last August.

The university has experienced a lot of turnover in the position. Brennan was Butler’s fourth Title IX Coordinator in four years. Also, Brennan is the fifth administrator to leave Butler in the past two months.

“These changes are part of our ongoing efforts to improve as a campus and work together to support the safety and well-being of our campus,” Ross said in the email. “Please reach out at any point with thoughts or questions.”

Tammy Pressler, the deputy Title IX Coordinator and HR consultant, will serve as interim Title IX Coordinator until June 18.

However, a full-time Title IX Coordinator has already been hired. In the email, Ross says Maria Kanger will be hired as Brennan’s replacement, and she will start June 18. Kanger comes from IUPUI where she has served as Associate Director of Student Conduct.

The email also said the university is searching for a full-time investigator that would work on cases related to Title IX and civil rights issues.

Right now on Butler’s website, titleix@butler.edu is the primary way students can report a Title IX concern. Ross also informed students that Pressler can be reached at tpressle@butler.edu as well.
