Despite freezing temperatures, students, faculty and staff marched across campus on Jan. 15 to remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King. Student organizers from Bust the B.U.B.B.L.E. collaborated with Diversity Program Council to host the event. Prior to the walk, participants worked together in the Reilly Room of Atherton Union to create colorful posters. Following speeches by Khalilah Shabazz, vice president and chief diversity officer; Anthony Murdock, lecturer of entrepreneurship and innovation, and Paul Ford II, a senior entrepreneurship and innovation major, participants began the walk.

“Love alone can’t accomplish what we need. But being empowered to act, understanding your why and realizing your power can; for it is truly love plus power which will equal and that does equal change.” – Dr. Khalilah Shabazz

“The Love Walk is so much more than just a walk. It’s a testimony of resilience, an annual demonstration of courage and an example … [of] sacrifice.” – Anthony Murdock

“This work is not cute, and it is not done for clout. It is as cold, cutthroat and unforgiving as the wind we are about to walk against.”  – Anthony Murdock
