The Butler men’s soccer team fell to 0-3 in Big East play after suffering a 2-0 loss to St. John’s on Sept. 29. The Bulldogs move to 2-6-1 overall and now sit alone in last place in the conference standings.

The first 45 minutes decided the contest at Belson Stadium in Queens, New York. The Red Storm jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute off a Brandon Duarte goal. The second and final goal of the game came just eight minutes later when Skage Simonsen found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Butler’s four shots on goal came from four different players but no one converted on one of those opportunities. Freshman Eric Conerty led the Bulldogs with three shots in the game. Conerty scored the first goal of his collegiate career in Butler’s 4-3 win over Marshall on Sept. 26.

Butler returns to action on Oct. 2 when they travel to Evansville, Indiana, to play the Evansville Purple Aces. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
