Collegian managing editor wins national award

Ryan Lovelace, The Butler Collegian’s managing editor, has earned the Investigative Reporters and Editors award for top student investigative journalism story in the nation.

Lovelace received the award for his story “A Center and Its Director,” which was published on pages one, two and 12 in the Nov. 20, 2013 issue of The Collegian.

The story explored the Rev. Allan Boesak, his arrival at Butler University and Christian Theological Seminar, and his naming as director of The Desmond Tutu Center. You can read the story here.

Ryan Lovelace mugLovelace finished tied for top honors in the IRE’s student category with a story from the Medill Justice Project at Northwestern University.

All IRE awards will be handed out at the 2014 IRE Conference in San Francisco, Calif., in June.
