Butler volleyball suffers season-ending loss to Marquette

Entering the Big East semi-finals as the No. 3 seed, the Butler volleyball team’s season was cut short in a 3-1 loss against No. 2 Marquette (25-15, 24-26, 25-17, 25-20). The Bulldogs’ single win came in the second set after climbing back from a 10-6 deficit. They finished the season with an overall record of 23-8, 13-5 in conference.

Anna Logan led the Bulldogs with 17 kills and 16 digs, earning Big East All-Tournament Team honors for her efforts. Whitney Beck held the team high with five blocks and was followed closely by Bri Lilly with four of her own. Makayla Ferguson. recorded a team-leading 38 assists to wrap up her Butler career.

With exception to the second set, Marquette controlled the match, starting with a 25-15 win to open play. Sets three and four were decisive wins for the Golden Eagles, effectively pushing their ticket to the Big East championship where they will face No. 1 Creighton. Anna Haak lead Marquette in kills (20) and digs (20).
