The Butler women’s soccer team suffered their second straight loss for the first time this season against DePaul University, 0-1, on Oct. 6 at the Butler Bowl.

The Bulldogs were dominated by the Depaul defense and only took one shot in the duration of the game.

“I just thought it was unacceptable performance on our end in terms of possession,” Co-Head Coach Rob Alman said. “I think we needed to show a little bit more character in terms of staying true to what we do rather than just bending to what a good Depaul team wanted us to do.”

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Luedtke held the Blue Demons to one goal on 14 shots split between the halves. Luedtke has allowed seven goals over 14 games this season.

Luedtke’s abilities were on display in the 50th minute when she saved three goals in the span of eight seconds. The Blue Demons slipped the one goal past her in the 58th minute.

“Hannah’s consistently really good I think everyone has a great amount of confidence in her at this point,” Alman said. “It was really unfortunate on the goal, which was a deflection. We’ve had 7 goals now that we’ve given up on the year and two of them have been pretty nasty deflections that she could do nothing about.”

The final minute gave the Bulldogs their first shot of the game when senior midfielder Serina Kashimoto narrowly missed the game-tying goal.

Their record sits at 8-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in Big East play. The Bulldogs face the Georgetown Hoyas on the road on Sunday, Oct. 9.
