Butler women’s golf opens season with 12th place finish at Redbird Invitational

The 54-hole tournament at the Redbird Invitational concluded with a 12th place finish for the Butler women’s golf team. The tournament, hosted by Illinois State from Sept. 8-9, featured 17 teams with a total of 95 participants.

Junior Katelyn Le had the best round for the Bulldogs on Monday’s final 18 holes. Le carded a one-over 73 and finished the tournament tied for 60th.

Sophomore Claire Edwards completed the tournament with a total of 224, finishing tied for 15th overall. 

Junior Ally Ross finished in a tie for 39th at 229. Sophomore Nicole Jordan finished in a tie for 65th at 236, while senior Betsy Werner played as an individual and shot 251.

In her first collegiate tournament, freshman Emma Kelly finished in a tie for 70th at 238.

Xavier took home the team title with a total score of 885. Bradley finished second with 888 followed by Ball State with 891. Caroline Klemp of Northern Illinois took medalist honors with a total of 215. 

The Bulldogs return to action on Sept. 23, traveling to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the Northern Iowa Invitational.
