Butler women’s tennis perseveres over Indiana Wesleyan, 5-4

The Butler women’s tennis team scrimmaged Indiana Wesleyan on Sept. 2, resulting in a 5-4 win for the Bulldogs in Marion, Indiana.

Senior Bailey Padgett headlined the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Alex Mella. Butler collected victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles from Lauren Marx and Nina Bertino. 

The Bulldogs dominated doubles play after taking two of three matches. Jordan Minnick and Lauryn Padgett outlasted Wildcats Olivia Reed and Thewuni Devaraja at No. 2 doubles in a score of 8-6. Freshmen Emily Neal and Marx grabbed a win at No. 3 doubles in their first collegiate match to seal Butler’s win.

The team’s next match takes place on Sept. 16 at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle.
