The Big East Conference released its full men’s basketball schedule Tuesday.
The Butler men’s basketball team will open Big East play for the third straight season on New Year’s Eve at home against Providence College.

Butler will hit the road on January 2 to play at rival Xavier University as a part of the conference’s New Year’s Marathon.

The Bulldogs will have a much anticipated rematch with Villanova University at home on Sunday, January 10, the day before classes start for the spring semester.
Villanova’s Darrun Hilliard hit a late three-pointer to down the Bulldogs last season, and two year’s ago, the Wildcats beat Butler in overtime in the Big East opener on New Year’s Eve.
Butler has two exhibition games against Taylor University on October 31 and Saint Joseph’s (Ind.) on November 7 before tipping off the regular season on November 14 at home against The Citadel.
The Bulldogs will have 12 non-conference games before delving into Big East play against the Friars.
