JCA adjunct, Indianapolis Children’s Choir director, dies at 55

Director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and Butler adjunct professor Cheryl West died on Saturday.

Ronald Caltabiano, dean of the Jordan College of the Arts, sent an email informing the campus her death.

West, 55, was rushed to the hospital late Friday night after a severe cerebral hemorrhage, as stated in her obituary in the Indianapolis Star.

West taught at Butler for 11 years, designing and teaching various courses. She taught show choir and technique and methodology classes.

Many alumni have expressed their gratitude for the years of working with West at Butler, according to the campus-wide email.

Services are today at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with visitation starting at 2 p.m, according to the email.
