Crime numbers high over holiday weekend

Butler University Police Department cited 6 incidents of possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor over Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, according the the department’s daily crime log.

All incidents except one resulted in a summons arrest, where the students involved are issued a ticket and required to go to court. One incident in Ross Hall resulted in a student being taken to the hospital.

The six instances of underage possession or consumption citations from last weekend make up more than half of the 11 underage possession or consumption citations given out by BUPD since Welcome Week.

Two reports of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs were cited since student move-in day, Aug. 23. Reports of thefts, dating violence, drug use and vandalism are also listed in the crime log.
