On a last-minute goal by freshman Logan Lee, the Butler men’s soccer team edged by the Villanova Wildcats 2-1 on Oct. 20. With the win, the Bulldogs moved to seventh in the Big East conference, just one point back of the last conference tournament spot.

The opening minutes of the match did not go as planned for the Bulldogs as Villanova’s Zach Zandi blasted one from 25 yards out in the eighth minute of play.

The lead held strong for the Wildcats until the 65th minute when senior Michael Peay found the back of the net on a low shot from the right side that scooted past the Villanova keeper.

The win was the Bulldogs second straight Big East win, inching them closer to a spot in the Big East Conference tournament.

“It was a true team effort today,” head coach Paul Snape said. “And we’re going to use this momentum going into another big game on Wednesday against Seton Hall. The focus is get three points against Seton Hall and then get on to the next one.”

That game against Seton Hall is scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Sellick Bowl at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Big East Digital Network.
