The Butler men’s basketball team released the 2018-2019 non-conference schedule on Wednesday. It features 15 games, nine of which are home, and is highlighted by games against Florida, Ole Miss and Indiana.
The Bulldogs will open the season at home against Miami, Ohio, and the final game before the start of Big East Conference play will be a road game in Gainesville against Florida.
Head coach LaVall Jordan said he believes the schedule his staff put together this season, which is the first he has helped put together since become Butler’s head coach, will prepare the team for the second half of the season.
“In my opinion, the Big East is the best conference in the country,” Jordan said in a statement. “Every season, we need to put together a non-conference schedule that will challenge us and prepare us for Big East play, and this schedule certainly will do that.”
The team will also make a Thanksgiving week trip to the Bahamas as they participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis. It was announced earlier this week that the Bulldogs will face off against Dayton on Nov. 21. The next day they will play Virginia or Middle Tennessee State, depending on the outcome of the first game. These games will be seen on the ESPN family of networks.
Two exhibition games are slated to get the season going in late October. Butler will host Tiffin and Southern Indiana at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
