Butler lacrosse drops first Big East match

The Butler University women’s lacrosse team lost 22-5 to the University of Connecticut on March 18.

The match marked the start of Big East play. Butler’s record falls to 1-8 after the matinee at Varsity Field. The home team scored two goals in the first half, and three in the second half.

Redshirt junior midfielder Haley Hallenbeck scored her two goals in the second half. Sophomore midfielder Christina Soderquist continued her hot streak, as she also found the back of the net.

Freshman attacker Ashley Guerra assisted on three of the Bulldogs’ five goals.

The Bulldogs will continue their homestand against Vanderbilt University on March 24. The match is slated for noon.
