10 things you should know about Duke transfer Jordan Tucker

After making official visits to Big East teams Butler and Georgetown, Duke transfer Jordan Tucker will play in Indiana, according to the forward’s Twitter account.

He will be the second transfer on head coach LaVall Jordan’s roster in addition to Paul Jorgensen, who transferred from George Washington after the 2015-16 season. Tucker could be eligible to play in the second semester of next season as a sophomore.

Here are ten things you need to know about Butler’s latest addition.

  1. Tucker was in Hinkle Fieldhouse for an official visit during the Butler-Marquette game on Jan. 12 after Duke released a press release announcing his plans to transfer. Tucker also considered committing to Georgetown, according to reports.
  2. The 6-foot-7 forward appeared in just two games for the Blue Devils, playing 14 total minutes and scoring six points.
  3. Currently a freshman, he was ranked No. 40 overall and No. 8 among small forwards by ESPN in 2017. He was No. 68th according to Rivals, while 247 Sports listed Tucker at No. 82.
  4. Tucker was a former Syracuse target but committed to Duke last May to join the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class according to ESPN. 
  5. In high school, he received offers from schools including Villanova, Georgetown, Indiana, Arizona and Louisville, according to 247 Sports.
  6. As a high school junior, he averaged 17.8 points per game at Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains, New York.
  7. Tucker played his senior season at Wheeler High School after the family moved to Georgia.
  8. At Wheeler, he contributed to a team record of 22-6 and a No. 8 ranking in the state.
  9. In 2017, Tucker partook in the high school 3-point championship during the Final Four in Phoenix.
  10. The 19-year-old transfer was born in New York to Lewis Tucker and Lori Land. He has a sister named Skylar.
