Women’s tennis earns the win over Bowling Green 6-1

The women’s tennis team defeated Bowling Green, 6-1, in their second home match of the season. 

The Bulldogs got off to a quick start, taking all three doubles matches. No. 1 doubles partners, Natalie Boesing and Chase Metcalf, as well as No. 3 partners, Norah Balthazor and Jordan Schildcrout, each clinched their matches without dropping a set. Butler’s No. 2 duo Veronika Bruetting and Delaney Schurhamer defeated their opponents 6-3. 

Butler earned five wins out of the six singles matches. After dropping her first set 4-6, No. 1 Boesing went on to claim the next two sets 6-3, 6-1. No. 3 Schurhamer, No. 4 Balthazor, and Emma Beavin all won their matches in straight sets, while Katie Beavin earned her win with a 10-2 deciding tie-break. 

This win advances Butler’s overall record to 1-3. The Bulldogs will travel to Cleveland State on Sunday, Feb. 5, for their next matchup.
