The Bulldogs’ last shot of the game came in the 83rd minute, and it sealed the game. The Butler men’s soccer team defeated Creighton 1-0 on Nov. 9 to advance to the second round of the Big East tournament. Butler improved to 11-6-1, while Creighton fell to 8-7-2 and was eliminated from the tournament.

The goal, scored by Wilmer Cabrera Jr. on a penalty kick, was the freshman’s eighth of the season, tying him with senior forward Brandon Guhl for third-most goals scored in the Big East. Six of those goals, including this one, were game-winners. That number leads the Big East.

Neither team recorded many shots on goal, with Cabrera Jr. accounting for two of Butler’s four. In total, Butler recorded 11 shots, while Creighton had 12.

Butler’s next game comes against first-seeded Georgetown — which has yet to lose a conference game — on Nov. 13 in Washington, D.C. The winner advances to the Big East Championship.
