The week ahead in Butler sports: Oct. 7 – 13

Monday, Oct 7:

Women’s golf at Butler Fall Invitational

Women’s golf will be hosting eight teams in the Butler Fall Invitational. This two day event will take place at the Highland Golf Club. Day one will consist of 36 holes starting at 9:00 a.m. Last season the Bulldogs placed first of ten teams in this invitational.

Tuesday, Oct 8:

Women’s golf vs. Butler Fall Invitational

Women’s golf will finish up the Butler Fall Invitational playing 18 holes. Day two will start at 9:00 a.m.

Men’s Soccer vs. Akron

Men’s soccer is now 5-4 after a 3-1 win against Providence. The Bulldogs will take a break from Big East play as they host Akron at the Sellick Bowl. Last season they went to double overtime resulting in a 2-2 tie. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. The game will also be available on YouTube.

Thursday, Oct 10:

Women’s soccer at Creighton

Women’s soccer is now 1-1-1 in Big East play after a double-overtime 1-1 tie against Villanova at home. They move to 6-4-2 overall. Butler will next travel to Omaha, Nebraska, to face Creighton at Morrison Stadium. Creighton is 7-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference with a win against DePaul, a loss to Xavier and a tie against Marquette. The Bulldogs beat the Bluejays 1-0 last season. Kickoff is at 8:00 p.m.

Friday, Oct 11:

Men’s tennis at Louisville Invitational

Men’s tennis is competing in the three day Louisville Invitational. The event will be taking place all day at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. 

Women’s tennis at Western Michigan Invitational

Women’s tennis is traveling to Kalamazoo, Michigan for the Western Michigan Invitational. This will be a three day event ending on Sunday. It will be taking place at the Sorensen Courts/ West Hills Athletic Club.

Volleyball vs. St. John’s

Women’s volleyball will stay at Hinkle this weekend as they continue Big East play. They will first host St. John’s on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs are now 5-11 overall and 2-2 in conference after beating Georgetown 3-2 and losing to Villanova 0-3. St. John’s is 10-7 overall and 2-2 in conference. The Red Storm has beat DePaul and Providence and lost to Marquette and Creighton so far this season. They will face Villanova before taking on Butler. The Bulldogs lost to the Red Storm 2-3 and 1-3 last season. You can watch the game on YouTube.

Saturday, Oct 12:

Men’s tennis at Louisville Invitational

Men’s tennis will continue competing all day in day two of the Louisville Invitational.

Women’s tennis at Western Michigan Invitational

Women’s tennis will continue their weekend with day two at the Western Michigan Invitational.

Women’s swimming at Illinois State

Women’s swimming will travel to Normal, Illinois to compete against Illinois State. They will host the event at the Horton Pool and will start at 12:00 p.m.

Football vs. Drake

Football is back in Indianapolis to host fellow bulldogs, Drake at the Sellick Bowl. Butler is 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference. Butler is coming off a close 27-30 loss at Stetson. Drake is 2-3 overall and 2-0 in conference, beating Marist and Valparaiso. Drake beat Butler 6-36 last season. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be available on YouTube.

Volleyball vs. Seton Hall

Volleyball will next host Seton Hall in Hinkle Fieldhouse. Seton Hall is 6-12 overall and 1-3 in conference going into the week. The Pirates will face Georgetown and Xavier before taking on the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs beat the Pirates 3-0 and 3-1 last season. First serve will be at 6:00 p.m.

Men’s soccer vs. DePaul

Men’s soccer is back to Big East play as they will host DePaul. The Bulldogs beat the Blue Demons 3-1 last season. DePaul is 4-5-2 overall. They are 0-1-2 in Big East play with a loss against Seton Hall and two 0-0 ties against Villanova and Georgetown in double overtime. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. and the game is available on YouTube.

Sunday, Oct 13:

Men’s tennis at Louisville Invitational

Men’s tennis will complete the Louisville invitational in the third day of the event.

Women’s tennis at Western Michigan Invitational

Women’s tennis will finish their weekend with the last day of the Western Michigan Invitational.

Women’s soccer vs. St. John’s

Women’s soccer will return to the Sellick Bowl to host St. John’s. St. John’s will also play Thursday night as they will face Marquette before taking on Butler. St. John’s is 4-8 overall and 1-2 in Big East play going into the week. They have lost to Providence and DePaul while also beating Seton Hall so far this season. The Bulldogs lost to the Red Storm 1-2 last season. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. at home. You can also catch all the action on YouTube.
