The Butler University men’s tennis team swept Xavier 7-0 on April 21 in their last regular season match.

After losing twice the previous weekend, the win moves Butler to 14-6 and 2-2 in Big East play.

“We kind of got everyone back on track,” assistant coach Sam Miles said.  “It’s definitely a confidence booster, and hopefully we can keep it rolling next weekend.”

Butler’s only loss of the day came in the No. 1 doubles spot, but the Bulldogs were still able to claim the doubles point.

The pairing of Michael Dickson and Spencer Lang in the No. 2 spot and the pairing of Ari Gerstein and Adrian Mag in the No. 3 spot were able to secure Butler’s first point.

Butler fared even better in singles play. All six Bulldogs won their matchups in straight sets.

Mason Dragos in the No. 1 spot only surrendered two games, winning his sets 6-2 and 6-0 respectively.

Butler will compete in the Big East Tournament April 27-29 in Cayce, South Carolina. Their first round opponent is undetermined, but it is likely that it will again be Xavier.
