Men’s soccer gets shutout road win over Marquette

The Butler men’s soccer team shut out Marquette 2-0 on the road Saturday night, securing them a top-four finish in the Big East. The Bulldogs are now 5-3 in conference play and 9-4-3 overall.

David Goldsmith found the back of the net in the 23rd minute for what proved to be the game winner. Assisted by Vincent Mitchell and Marco Charalambous, Goldsmith headed in the ball for his seventh goal of the season. Several minutes later, Goldsmith would head in another ball off of a pass from Jeff Adkins, putting the Bulldogs on the scoreboard once more. Goldsmith ended the night with a total of five shots.

Eric Dick made four saves on his way to picking up his sixth shutout of the season. Both teams had 12 shots for the game.

The Bulldogs host Xavier on Thursday at 7:00 pm in what will be the last regular season home game, as well as senior night. The winner of the match determines the No. 3 seed in the Big East tournament.
