6-10 center Joey Brunk, a senior at Southport High School, has verbally committed to Butler, as first reported by Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star.
He averaged 16.5 points per game and nine rebounds per game as a junior.
Brunk took only two official visits, one to Oklahoma and one to Butler. He had offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Missouri, New Mexico, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Purdue and Xavier.
Brunk is ranked No. 138 nationally among Class of 2016 recruits according to Yahoo Rivals, and No. 63 according to ESPN.
Brunk is the first recruit from the Class of 2016 to verbally commit to Butler.
