Men’s Soccer releases 2014 schedule

The Butler men’s soccer program has released its 2014 schedule as it embarks on its second season in the Big East conference.

The Bulldogs open their season with a pair of exhibition matches versus Dayton (Aug. 17) and Indianapolis (Aug. 22) at the Butler Bowl before opening the regular season versus Cansius in the Ohio State Buckeye Tournament on Aug. 29.

Butler opens its home slate on Sept. 3 versus IUPUI. Butler will host eight matches during the regular season, including four against conference opponents.

The team defeated Indiana University 3-2 at home last season in overtime. The rivalry will shift to Bloomington this season, as Butler will travel to face the Hoosiers on Sept. 17.

Butler opens conference play on Sept. 27 by hosting Georgetown. They also host Marquette (Oct. 15,) Seton Hall (Oct. 29,) and Providence (Nov. 1) during conference play.

The Big East tournament will take place Nov. 11-16.

The team is coming off a 10-8-1 season during which they advanced to the semifinals of the Big East championship before bowing out to Marquette, the eventual conference champion, by a score of 1-0.
