Men’s tennis experiences deja vu after identical losses

Butler men’s tennis was shut out by No. 4 Ohio State yesterday, one day after falling to No. 46 Indiana by the same score.

Junior Chris Herron had the most success against the Buckeyes (2-0), winning five games in two sets during the No. 3 singles match.

Senior Brandon Bayliss fell by similar means, 6-1, 6-3, in the No. 1 singles match.

The previous day against the Hoosiers (3-1) held some brighter points for Butler (1-3).

Bayliss won the first set of his No. 1 singles match, 6-3, against Indiana junior Jeremy Langer before dropping the next two sets, 6-1, 6-4.

Senior Lenz Theodor nearly won his first set in the No. 4 singles match, losing it 7-5 on one break before losing the second, 6-1.

Butler lost all six of their doubles matches during the two days.

Butler’s next men’s meet is at Illinois State Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The women’s tennis team also plays Saturday afternoon, when they host Miami (Ohio) at 1 p.m.
