The 162-game marathon known as the MLB season is over, but the sprint to the World Series is just beginning. Here is who the Collegian thinks will take home the Commissioner’s Trophy.

Every year, my baseball knowledge does not grow and every year, I pick the same team to win it all in the World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to fail me — although I might have just jinxed it by saying that — and I was told the Tampa Bay Rays were good. I think the two of them will take it to seven games in the final, with the Dodgers taking home the trophy for the third year in a row.

I absolutely love baseball and the postseason is always phenomenal. Unfortunately, while my heart wants the 103-win Milwaukee Brewers and lovable underdog Chicago White Sox to meet in the “Fall Classic”, there is no chance of either of these teams slaying the Dodgers. The American League pennant winner will likely be the Rays — led by star third baseman Junior Caminero — but the Dodgers’ top-tier pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto will take home MVP honors as Los Angeles wins in five games and becomes the first three-peat champions since the 1998–2000 New York Yankees.

I am historically bad at staff picks, making just one correct choice in my three years of trying. As such, this year I will be using my incompetence for the greater good — jinxing baseball’s villains. With that said, give me the Dodgers over the Yankees in five games, signifying another victory for Goliath and sealing MLB’s fate of an extended lockout during the 2027 season.

Baseball is not where my confidence lies, so I will just go with my intuition. Earlier this month, I had a dream that featured should-be Hall of Famer and former White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko. Then this past week, when I was thrifting, I saw a Konerko jersey that was too overpriced for my pockets. I am taking both of those instances as signs that this season will end with the World Series trophy finding a home in Chicago’s South Side. Maybe Munetaka Murakami gets a similar highlight to Konerko’s grand slam against the Astros.

I believe it is finally The Crew’s turn to win the World Series this year, especially after setting a new franchise record for wins and breaking the century mark. I would not mind any team except the Boston Red Sox from the American League, but I would like to see the White Sox because they are an awesome story. The Brewers will win their first World Series in six games on their home field against the White Sox, with Jackson Chourio taking home MVP honors.

As a diehard White Sox fan who has been through all of the ups and downs of the franchise, I of course want to pick the better Chicago club to win it all, but sadly that will not happen. While I do think they can advance all the way to the World Series, they will lose at some point. In the American League, I see the Rays making it out and advancing to the World Series to face the National League champion Brewers. In the end, I believe with stronger pitching and a slight advantage hitting-wise, the Brewers will be your 2026 World Series Champions and Jacob Misiorowski will be the MVP.
