Why attend: Being a commuter is difficult — one faces struggles most on-campus Butler students never have to worry about. From weather causing traffic jams, to high gas prices, to a lack of third spaces to rest in between classes, the life of a commuter is one that many Butler students can feel overwhelmed by. Commuters at Butler is aimed at making these struggles easier to navigate. This event is a great opportunity for commuters to socialize and enjoy free food.

Why attend: No matter if one is a human encyclopedia or a total beginner, trivia night is an opportunity to enjoy friendly competition and good vibes. Presented by the University Program Council (UPC), Trivia Thursdays are a chance to win fun prizes and enjoy free food.
When: Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Where: Fairview fire pits
Why attend: The Asian and Pacific Islander Alliance (APIA) presents Mid-Autumn Festival, a multi-cultural event to promote cultural awareness and connection while enjoying traditional food — mooncakes. This event fulfills a Butler Cultural Requirement (BCR) credit.
4. King’s Island Amusement Park
When: Sept. 26 at 4:45 p.m.
Where: King’s Island Amusement Park
Why attend: Enjoy a Saturday with free amusement park access and transportation, provided by UPC. Built in the early ‘70s, King’s Island is famous for its roller coaster “The Beast”, which holds a “Guinness Book of World Records” title as the longest wooden roller coaster in the world at 7,361 feet. Students can enjoy the exhilaration of intense coasters without worrying about the pricey amusement park tickets. If one is interested, they may RSVP on the Engage page.
5. Pie a Poodle
When: Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Fairview fire pits
Why attend: The ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. present… Pie a Poodle! This event will help support the sorority’s initiatives and programming. Sigma Gamma Rho was founded at Butler University and continues today to uphold their legacy of leading positive change through uplifting sisterhood, leadership and service. Participants will make a monetary contribution and have the chance to engage in lighthearted fun and pieing.
6. Steiner-Watkins Lecture Series: The Greenlawn Cemetery Excavations in Indianapolis
When: Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.
Where: Jordan Hall 141
Why attend: Interested in cemetery history? Dr. Jeremy Wilson, a bioarchaeologist for IU Indianapolis, has been working on uncovering over 1,700 burials from the Greenlawn cemetery, where Indianapolis’ Black and immigrant populations were buried. Wilson will share the stories of those who were laid to rest in Greenlawn, as well as ongoing projects and work with the Henry Street Bridge project. This event fulfills a BCR credit.

1. Jacques ze Whipper: Circus Kid
When: Sept 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Helium Comedy Club
Why attend: Jacques ze Whipper has gained over a million followers on Instagram for doing one thing — excellent circus performances using a whip. Ze Whipper is now presenting his skills on stage at the Helium Comedy Club, and providing some context on the circus life he grew up in. Tickets begin at $40.04 for general admission and can be purchased online.
2. Diva Royale Drag Queen Show
When: 247 South Meridian Street
Where: Sept. 25-26 at 7 p.m.
Why attend: The Divas have arrived! This event is perfect for those looking for a fun dinner show and the chance to be treated like a queen. Perfect for birthday parties or just a fun celebration, this show will feature drag queen guest appearances from Madonna, Dolly Parton, Liza Minnelli, Adele, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Beyonce and more. Tickets are available online and start at $30.13.
3. Oktoberfest at the Liederkranz
When: Sept. 26 from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
Where: Indianapolis Liederkranz
Why attend: Oktoberfest is an annual celebration of music, food and beer. The evening will be filled with Gemütlichkeit — the German word for a deep state of warmth, friendliness, coziness and peace of mind. Admission is free for all attendees.
