Those on campus with a late night sweet tooth are most likely familiar with Insomnia Cookies, a dessert shop that delivers treats to your door until as late as 3:30 a.m. Featuring flavors such as Chocolate Chunk, M&M and White Chocolate Macadamia, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“Our deluxe cookies are extremely popular,” Megan Bruton, a marketing manager for Insomnia Cookies, explained. “Our S’Mores Deluxe specifically is a favorite among not only our guests, but also our team members.”

According to the company’s website, the business began in 2003, when University of Pennsylvania student Seth Berkowitz baked and delivered cookies out of his dorm room to fellow students.

By 2004, the company had gained enough popularity in New York to open its first store.

Since then, the company has expanded to over 50 stores all over the nation, from Missouri to Florida to Maryland.

Their extensive menu is constantly updated and changed and features a specialty cookie each season.

This season’s specialty cookie is Double Chocolate Peanut Butter.

While Insomnia is known for supporting late-night study sessions and catering parties, they also donate cookies to support various charities and host fundraising days for many organizations.

“Everyone that works here is always so friendly and helpful,” one customer at the Broad Ripple location said. “Even when you order late at night, they’re always really nice.”

The company’s success was brought about simply by the universal appeal of a warm cookie to any demographic, Bruton said.

“We have found that everyone enjoys a warm cookie,” she said. “Nothing cures a bad day like a cookie, and nothing says ‘let’s celebrate’ like a cookie does.”

And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
