Eric Stout drafted by Kansas City Royals

Senior Eric Stout was chosen in the 13th round of this year’s Major League Baseball draft by the Kansas City Royals.

Stout has posted a 14-17 record over three seasons at Butler, including 159 strikeouts in 207 innings pitched.

He led the team in strikeouts (64) and innings pitched (67.2) during his junior season while making 13 starts and one relief appearance.

Stout had an 8-5 record during his sophomore season and ended the season with two shutouts and two complete games while leading the team in strikeouts (56) and innings pitched (84.2).

Stout emerged as a solid arm out of the bullpen during his freshman year, appearing in 19 games and posting a 3-5 record.

Stout is the second Butler Bulldog to be drafted by an MLB team, and the first since Pat Neshek was drafted in the sixth round by the Minnesota Twins in 2002.
