Butler women’s tennis defeated by Seton Hall

The Butler University women’s tennis team was defeated by Seton Hall 6-1 on Senior Day, April 21. This was the final home match for seniors Bailey Padgett, Rachel Sutton, Jordan Minnick and Callie Schmit.

The Bulldogs were down early after Seton Hall won the point in doubles play.

Senior pairing Padgett and Minnick were defeated at the No.1 doubles spot 6-1. Schmit and Carla O’Byrne were also defeated at the No. 3 spot. Sutton and Emily Neal did not finish their match in the No. 2 position.

Butler’s deficit increased even more during singles play.

At No. 4 singles, Lauren Marx was the only Bulldog to pick up a win. Padgett, Sutton, Neal, O’Byrne and Nina Bertino were all defeated.

The Bulldogs finish the regular season 9-16. Butler will compete next at the Big East Tournament in Cayce, South Carolina starting April 26. Details regarding the tournament will be released Monday, April 23.
