Butler lacrosse falls behind early in loss to Villanova

The Butler University women’s lacrosse team fell 20-4 to Villanova University on April 18. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-7 in conference play following the matinee.

Villanova moved to 7-7 (2-5 Big East) after scoring the first 11 goals in the match. Butler answered with one goal from sophomore midfielder Christina Soderquist, while redshirt junior midfielder Haley Hallenbeck added two goals. Hallenbeck now has 19 goals on the season.

Villanova took a 14-3 lead into the half. The Bulldogs tallied a goal in the final minute when freshman midfielder Katelyn Murphy finding the back of the net.

Butler will host another Big East foe, the University of Cincinnati, on April 21. First draw is scheduled for 2 p.m.
