Junior Sophia Maccagnone fired a shot past the goalie threw her hands up and down in celebration. Her goal gave Butler a 1-0 lead against in-state rival Indiana State University with only 16:53 left to play in the game.
That score stood until time ran out and the Butler fight song played. With their second consecutive win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-4 on the season.
The game-winning goal was Maccagnone’s first on the season. It was assisted by senior Elise Kotsakis.
Sophomore Jayne Heinrich recorded her second straight shut out, blocking two shots on the night.
The Bulldogs outshot Indiana State 21-6 in the contest.
Butler host Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis on Sunday at 1 p.m. Last season the Bulldogs took a 1-0 win over the Jaguars on the road.
