Tyler Lewis, a sophomore guard who attended North Carolina State this year, announced Friday afternoon that he is transferring to Butler University in the fall. Lewis averaged 4.4 points and 3.8 assists in just under 20 minutes per game.

Lewis visited Butler’s campus this week just days after announcing his intent to transfer March 29. It was the only visit he made. Lewis was impressed by the program and felt at home.

“I just felt like it was the best fit for me, the best spot for me,” he said.

Lewis will sit out the upcoming season and have two years of eligibility remaining.

Lewis was a High School McDonald’s All-American. He is the first player to claim the honor in the program’s history.

Butler has three open scholarships remaining.
