Butler files lawsuit against Metro Diner, says restaurant breached lease agreement
Butler University has filed a lawsuit against the Metro Diner restaurant chain over the sudden March 4 closing of the on-campus Sunset Avenue diner location. The case was filed against Florida-based Metro Diner LLC and MD Midwest LLC and MD Original LLC — which are affiliates of the diner chain — on Oct. 31, according to a case summary.

Administrators, alumni, trustees of the university and current students launched Butler Beyond, a comprehensive fundraising campaign with a goal to raise $250 million by May 2022, at Clowes Memorial Hall on Oct. 5.

Gallahue Hall, which has not been renovated since its construction in 1973, will become connected with Holcomb Building to create one, state-of-the-art science complex in 18 months.
Chatham Tap set to open in parking garage by end of October
After Scotty’s Dawghouse, the last standing tenant in the Sunset Avenue parking garage, closed this summer, the University has signed a new restaurant to occupy the space. The restaurant is expected to open by the end of October.
