The Butler volleyball team played their season’s final matches at Hinkle Fieldhouse over the weekend. The Bulldogs swept Providence College on Nov. 11 and lost to Creighton University on Nov. 12

Against Providence, Butler dominated the first matinee from the opening serve. The Bulldogs earned a 25-18, 25-13, 25-17 victory over the Friars. Sophomore middle blocker/outside hitter Brooke Gregory recorded a team-high 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Anna Logan added five blocks and a team-high three service aces.

“We gave it all every single point this weekend,” Logan said. “There really isn’t much more you can ask for.”

Following the win against the Friars, Butler fell to Creighton in five sets. Butler stands at 21-7 (11-5 Big East) after the loss on Senior Day. Redshirt junior Whitney Beck posted a double-double, recording 15 kills to go along with 17 digs.

“We know we are one of the best teams in the conference,” assistant coach Sofia Sanchez said. “We are even more hungry to get to Milwaukee to prove it.”

Beck and senior setter Makayla Ferguson played their final match in Hinkle Fieldhouse. Ferguson posted a season-high 60 assists and 12 digs in the 25-21, 36-38, 19-25, 27-25, 11-15 loss.

“It means a lot to me to see all of the encouragement and gratitude from all of my teammates and coaches,” Ferguson said. “It’s sad never getting to play in Hinkle again, but I think we left on a very high note and I could not be more thankful.”

Butler will conclude the regular season on the East Coast. The Bulldogs will face Seton Hall University on November 17. First serve in South Orange, New Jersey is scheduled for 7 p.m.

“I think this weekend shows the other teams in the Big East what we are about,” Ferguson said. “It shows what they can expect within the next two weeks.”
