Four players transferring from women’s basketball program

Four women’s basketball players are transferring from the program. Redshirt sophomore Haley Howard, freshman Ashton Feldhaus, junior Taylor Schippers and junior Liz Stratman will be leaving the university, according to a statement from Butler University athletic department.

Howard has been in the program for three years and has played for two, after suffering an injury last year and redshirting. Howard averaged 6.3 points per game this season and averaged 7.0 points per game over her career.

Feldhaus saw action in 31 games this season and scored 2.2 points per game.

Schippers played two seasons at Butler after transferring from Oklahoma State. She averaged 10.7 points point per game this season, including a season-high 21 points at Valparaiso on December 13.

Stratman transferred from Xavier after the first semester of her freshman year and became eligible in December 2012. She scored 10.8 points per game in 22 games last season. This season, Stratman won Big EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors and led the conference with 79 blocked shots. She averaged 13.1 points per game, the second-highest on the team. She also led the team is rebounds and free-throw percentage.

Head coach Beth Couture “wishes nothing but the best for all four of these student-athletes as they decide to move forward in their academic and athletic careers,” according to the athletic department.

Couture was unavailable for further comment.
